The Beginning

About Us

Marvin and Mary Ann Feltner moved to Lyndon from Burlington, Kansas, with their four children, Mike, Marcy, Mark, and Michelle, on the Monday after Easter in 1966. They came to Lyndon to purchase the Shaffer Mortuary from Lawrence and Clare Shaffer, who had owned and operated the funeral home for nearly two decades from locations on Topeka Avenue.

In 1967, Marvin and Mary Ann added Marty to the family, and they owned and operated Feltner Funeral Home for the next 30 years until their retirement on December 31, 1996. They also owned and operated Marv's Furniture/Carpets/Variety Store a block south of the funeral home throughout this time.

Their sons, Mike and Marty, purchased the funeral home upon their retirement in January of 1997 and continue to provide Lyndon, the surrounding communities, and their families with the same respect, dignity, and professionalism started by Marvin and Mary Ann. After retirement, Marvin stepped away from the business and went back to farming and raising cattle. He always had dirt in his veins. Dad passed away on October 21, 2006. Mary Ann took time to follow the grandchildren in their sports and traveled on bus trips with friends and train trips to see family. She continued to help with the funeral home and tried to keep us in line until she passed away on August 18, 2013. We feel that they were the best at what they did, what they stood for, and what they taught us.
