Will Alton Stambaugh, Jr. passed away peacefully in his Pomona home on January 23, 2024, following a hard fight against illness with the support of his family and the loving care of his partner. Born October 24, 1948, in Plainview, Texas, Will was the only child of Mayme Louise Clymore Stambaugh and Will Stambaugh, Sr. His parents divorced in 1959 and his mother remarried to James Sweatman, who helped raise him and helped guide Will until his death in 1994.

Will graduated high school in Little Rock, Arkansas and began college at the University of Arkansas, before moving to Ottawa, Kansas to join with his mother and stepfather. He received his draft notice for the Navy and because of past construction experience, his two tours in Vietnam began with the Seabees Naval Mobile Construction Battalion. Working across 17 different locations through his tours, his unit built bases, bridges, and other critical military structures.

After returning stateside, he took up motorcycle riding and began working at H.D. Lee, first in Kansas and then as a supervisor in Texas. Will returned to Ottawa in the mid-70's to learn construction company operations at Sweatman Construction. He later worked for several construction companies, including his promotion to foreman with J.E. Dunn until he retired after necessary cancer treatments in 1999.

Will married Catherine Marie Bischoff in 1980 and the couple had one son, Michael. Catherine passed away in 2007.

Will began an important relationship with Linda Altom in 2009, until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, mother, and his wife, Catherine.

Will is survived by his son, Michael Stambaugh, daughter-in-law Jey Stambaugh and grandsons Kieran and Donovan, his half-sister Trina, half-siblings on his father's side, nephew Brandon and three stepsons from his wife, Catherine. He is also survived, his partner, Linda Altom, who filled the final 15 years of his life with laughter, sarcasm, love, and purpose until he found his final rest.

Memorial services will be held in the form of an Inurnment of Will and Catherine's ashes at the family plot at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon is assisting the family.
