Wayne M. Walquist passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 19, 2021 at the age of 76.

He was born to Harvey and Roberta (Bulmer) Walquist on January 8, 1945 in Topeka, KS. After graduating from Lyndon High School, he attended Emporia State University graduating with a degree in Business Administration.

Wayne served in the United States Army Reserves from 1967-1968 serving in with the 1011 ^th Supply and Service Company in Vietnam. He earned the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service as a clerk with the company and as the driver for the commanding officer of the 29 ^th General Support Group.

On August 28, 1966, Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Jean Pierce. To this union they raised 3 amazing daughters; Amy, Carrie and Megan and always welcomed any extras to the house while the girls were growing up in Lyndon.

Wayne was a lifelong Lyndon resident and early business owner of Wayne's Clothing. He served in many community organizations including the Jaycee's and USD 421 Board of Education. A farmer and rural mail carrier, Wayne could often be found at the farm and enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He passed his love for livestock on to his girls and grandchildren. Wayne always did his best to find time to participate in their activities. There was rarely an event – 4h, school, or sports – that Wayne missed.

He will be forever remembered by his family: wife Marilyn Walquist, Lyndon; daughter Amy (Chris) Eichem, Wamego; daughter Carrie Shaffer, Richmond and granddaughters Shelbye, Morgan and Taylor and great grandchildren Harper and Layton; daughter Megan (Tim) Kilgore, Lyndon and grandson Gage; brother Bruce (Cindy) Walquist, Cleburne, TX; niece Whitney (Craig) Vicars, Cleburne, TX; as well as Buddy, Reese, Josey, Benson, and Millie – the 4-legged family members.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, March 23 at 10:30 am at Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon, KS. Inurnment will follow to the Lyndon Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Monday, March 22 from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.
