Obituary

LYNDON – Wayne Alan Dunn, 83, of Lyndon, Kansas was injured in a car accident on April 6, 2021. While still in ICU at Stormont Vail, with family at his side, he succumbed to his injuries on April 17, 2021. Wayne was born November 29, 1937 the son of Sam and Neva Marie (Gibson) Dunn.  Wayne graduated from Burlingame High School in 1956 and lived most of his life there until he moved to Lyndon ten years ago.

Wayne served in the United States Army where he served from June 13, 1956 and was Honorably Discharged on June 8, 1959. He earned the rank of Sp4 where he was a construction machine operator. Wayne worked as a brick mason, custodian at Burlingame High School and in maintenance at KNI in Topeka until his retirement.

Wayne served as a Boy Scout leader, Rural Fire Chief of Burlingame Fire Dept., Burlingame City Council and was a Hunter Safety Instruction for many years. He was an avid outdoors man, where he taught many people how to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his five brothers, Richard, Leonard, Paul, Sam and Howard.

Survivors include the light of his life, his children, Laurie Dunn (Danny Decker) of Lyndon, KS, Kathy Kokenge (Chris) of Tecumseh, KS and Chad Dunn (Amanda) of Shawnee, Kansas; four grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, Haley and Amanda; four great grandchildren, Reagan, Keegan, Lunden, Brecken; three bonus grandchildren; and his bonus eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Keith Dunn of Scranton, KS, Dwight Dunn of Homosassa, FL; and his sister, LaRita Neeley of Topeka, KS.

Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the Burlingame Cemetery in Burlingame, KS. Following the graveside, the family would like to invite all to the Schuyler Annex (which Wayne helped build).  The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M., Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and sent in care to Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
