Carbondale--Warren Lee Wideman, 68, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on July 26, 1948 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of August and Alberta Lee Wideman.
Warren grew up on a farm outside Olpe, KS. He attended Maydale Catholic School and the public schools in Olpe, until he graduated from Olpe High School in 1966.
After a few years, he moved to Topeka where he met his future wife.
On February 3, 1975 Warren was married to Pamela Ferry in Topeka.
The couple lived in Topeka and Wichita, until finally settling down in Carbondale in 1979.
In 1975, he began his profession as a delivery driver. He worked for a couple of Candy and Tobacco Companies, until 1989 he got his job at Land Air Express where he worked until he got ill in May of this year.
Warren attended Grace Chapel in Carbondale and was a beloved part of the congregation since 1981.
Warren is survived by his wife Pam of 42 years; his son, Nicholas Wideman of Lawrence; his two daughters, Holly (Ron) Gudenkauf of Holton and Heather Metcalfe of Carbondale; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services for Warren will be at 10:00am on Saturday, July 22 at the Grace Chapel in Carbondale. Burial will be in the Carbondale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday at the church.
