Carbondale--Violet "Vicky" Rivas, 55, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2106 at her home in Carbondale, Kansas. She was born on October 11, 1961 in Clovis, New Mexico, the daughter of Ernest and Mary Farmer Arnold.
Vicky had lived in Carbondale for the last 11 years. She worked at the Carbondale Attendance Center District 434 as a cook and she had also worked at the Carbondale Thriftway. She had attended the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship.
Vicky was married to Benito Joe Rivas on October 4, 1976 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary and by a brother, James Arnold.
Vicky is survived by her husband Joe of the home; her three children, Michelle (Gary) Stanley of Ft. Worth, Texas, Phillip Rivas of Topeka and Amanda Rivas of Carbondale; her nine siblings, Rosie Baker of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, Billy Don Arnold of Clovis, New Mexico, Richard Arnold of Stafford, Arizona, Myrle Rush of Clovis, New Mexico, Arlene High of Scranton, Roy Arnold of Portalis, New Mexico, Joann Garrett of Topeka, Peggy Cole of Roswell, New Mexico and Mike Arnold of Topeka; and thirteen grandchildren.
Funeral services for Vicky will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, November 16 at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship. Cremation will follow the services. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm until service time at the church.
