Waverly, Tennessee - Verna Arlene Greer, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Humphreys County Care and Rehab in Waverly, Tennessee. She was born on March 7, 1938, on the family farm near Lyndon, Kansas, the daughter of Eugene and Mildred (Duff) Nettleton.

Verna grew up in Lyndon where she graduated from Lyndon High School in 1956. She had lived in Topeka and in Camden, Tennessee  before moving back to Lyndon. She had just recently moved to Tennessee.

Verna worked as an upholsterer for several companies and for her own business.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Mildred; by her brother, Frank Nettleton; and by two of her sisters, Dona Jones and Joanne Tipton.

Verna is survived by her three sons, Steven Eugene Johnson (Tamera) of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, Michael Lynn Greer (Debbie) of Paris, Tennessee and Timothy Scott Greer (Rebecca) of Memphis, Tennessee; by her twin sister, Lorraine (Al) Stevens of Lyndon; by her two grandchildren, Thomas (Hannah) Greer and Addy (Monty) Byars; other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Verna will be at 11:00am on Thursday, November 20, at the Lyndon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Verna may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
