Obituary

Velma Lorie (Duff) Bauck passed away on January 22, 2015 at her home. She was born march 18,1934 to Leland and Hazel (Humphrey) Duff at Lyndon.
She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1952, and in 1954 married here high school sweetheart, Glenn Bauck. Except for two years when Glenn was in the army, they spent their life on the farm at Vassar, Ks. She was a full-time partner in their dairy farm and boat and camper storage business. in the 1970's they built Lamont Hill Golf Course and Restaurant, where she became known for her bread and home-style cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Millie Blackwood and Lela Ray. She is survived by her husband, Glenn, and their children Scott (Pam), Russ (Etta), Gail (Gene) Jarvis, Toni (Larry) Wendling, her sisters Barbara (Elmer) Tornquist and Betty (Tom) Lewis, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and their nephew and long-time business partners, Keith and Nancy Persinger. Time invested in her children and grandchildren brought her great joy.
Velma will lie in repose at the home, 23055 S. HWY. K-268, Vassar, Ks. on Sunday, January 25. The family will welcome visitors after 1:00 p.m.
Velma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Vassar. Ks., where she was active in the music ministry as organist and choir director for many years. She will be given a christian burial there on Monday, January 26,, at 11:00 a.m. Velma's friends are invited to the parish hall an hour before the service to share memories. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery.
