Lyndon--Thelma Swanson, 94, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Sunset Manor in Waverly, Kansas. She was born on June 22, 1922 on the family farm southwest of Lyndon, Kansas the daughter of George and Gertrude Gordon Allison.
Thelma had lived most all of her life in and around the Lyndon community and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1939, receiving her Normal Training, then teaching school for one year . She and her husband had operated a hatchery and then the Swanson Agency in Lyndon until their retirement in 1978. She had been a member of the Lyndon American Legion Auxiliary and the Lyndon Order of the Eastern Star.
On June 24, 1939 Thelma was married to Harry Swanson in Lawrence, Kansas. Harry preceded her in death on December 4, 2002.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Ron) Groff of Lyndon; her sister, Ada Bourne of Osage City; one granddaughter, Rhonda (Barry) Beets and one great-granddaughter, Allison Young.
Funeral services for Thelma will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 3 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time on Monday.
