McFarland - Tamra Sue Gilbert, 58, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026 at her home in McFarland, Kansas. She was born on July 22, 1967, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mary (Mann) Orton.

Tamra lived around Quenemo for several years and graduated from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School in 1986.

Tamra worked as a CNA at Hilltop Nursing Home in Lyndon and at Wal-Mart in Ottawa. She had been a Homemaker most of her life. She attended Washburn University for a paralegal degree.

Tamra was united in marriage to William Gilbert on October 16, 2004, in Quenemo, Kansas.

Tamra was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; and by her sister, Theresa Turner.

Tamra is survived by her husband, William Gilbert of the home; her daughter, April (Cody) Kiser of Lawrence; by her son, Joshua (Nichelle) Shields of Herington; by her two brothers, William Orton and Julius Orton; by her sister, Victoria Cochran; by nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30am on Friday, July 10 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Quenemo. Memorial contributions in memory of Tamra may be made to the Tamra Gilbert Memorial Fund, sent in care of the Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS, 66451.
