Michigan Valley - Steven Eugene Schoepflin, 53, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home in Michigan Valley, Kansas. He was born on March 29, 1970, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of DeWayne and Deloris (Jenkins) Schoepflin.
Steve graduated from Pomona High School in 1988 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Apparel and Textile Marketing from Kansas State University. Steve grew up in Michigan Valley, and resided across many cities in his lifetime, including; Lawrence KS, Kansas City MO, Washington D.C., Philadelphia PA, Columbus OH and Cincinnati OH.
Moving allowed Steve to show off his home improvement skills, and hone his aesthetic sensibilities, building beautiful spaces for his family to live and grow in; architecture and interior design being one of his many passions. Steve was an entrepreneur with a knack for detailed design and business; he was a true "fixer". His lifelong pursuit of learning started at a young age through his 4-H program. He loved watching K-State football with his family. Steve was a thoughtful and supportive husband, father, son, brother and friend.
He was married to the love of his life, Megan Kingsley Merkle on October 16, 1999, in Columbus, Ohio. They have two children, Timothy Reid Schoepflin and Lauren Kingsley Schoepflin.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Deloris Schoepflin on October 27, 2008.
Steve is survived by his wife Megan; his son, Timothy Reid of Hays; his daughter, Lauren Kingsley of Chicago, Illinois; his father, DeWayne Schoepflin of Michigan Valley; his three brothers, Kenneth (Shelly) Schoepflin of Basehor, Bruce (Dawn) Schoepflin of Osage City, Timothy (Brandy) Schoepflin of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Steve will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 23 at the Grace Community Church in Overbrook. The family will receive friends following the service at DeWayne's house in Michigan Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Steve may be made to the Steve Schoepflin Memorial Fund, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451. Memorial services in Columbus, Ohio will be announced for a later date.
