Overbrook--Steven X. Cross, 63, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his home in Overbrook, Kansas. He was born on December 27, 1953 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of John and Mary Chase Cross.
Steve had lived most of his life in Overbrook, but had also lived in Lyndon and Carbondale.
Steve was a construction foreman for Frisbie Construction and then Wolf Construction. He graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1972, was a member of the Grace Community Church and Crappie Master's, and Crappie Buster's Fishing Club.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Cross and Ronnie Wilkinson.
Steve is survived by his companion, Lovella Long of Overbrook; his seven children, Samuel Cross of Gardner, Emily Schallock of Scranton, Joseph Cross of Minnesota, Ashley McCulley of Wichita, Jessica Beath of Arizona, Jeremy Long of Carbondale and Johnna Long of Olathe; his three brothers, John Cross, Jr. of Scranton, Michael Cross of Carbondale and Jeff Cross of Scranton; his two sisters, Christine Cross of Carbondale and Peggy Rosenow of Topeka; and fourteen grandchildren.
Memorial services for Steve will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 7 at the Grace Community Church in Overbrook. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00pm on Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be in the Carbondale Cemetery.
