Lyndon--Shirley Ann McDaniel, 80, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at her home of 54 years in Lyndon, Kansas after a brave 3-year battle against cancer. She was born on December 25, 1937 in Vassar, Kansas, the daughter of John and Hazel Beatty Christesen.
Shirley graduated from Towanda High School in 1957 and attended Emporia State University. She spent her time supporting her family, being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
On December 9, 1960, Shirley was married to James McDaniel in Wichita.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel.
Shirley is survived by her husband James of the home; her four children, Darin McDaniel of Lawrence, Ruffin McDaniel and Shelly Jensen of Topeka , Tobin McDaniel of Lawrence and Reghan (John) Cloudman of Timnath, Colorado; her three grandchildren, Logan and Rhett McDaniel and Paige Cloudman, that she deeply loved; and her sister, Sharon Jarmer of Garden City.
A private family graveside service will be held at Lyndon Cemetery. A celebration of life reception for friends and family will be from 2:00-4:00pm on Saturday, May 19 at the Lyndon United Methodist Church, 126 W. 8th St. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the USD 421 Endowment Association or the Lyndon United Methodist Church, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
