Shirley M. (Vanderslice) Lawson passed away surrounded by her family on February 12, 2024. She was born March 19, 1936, the first of four daughters, to Wm. Alfred and Evelyn Mardell (Goldsmith) Vanderslice. She graduated from Melvern High School in 1953 and was valedictorian of her class.

Shirley was married to John H. Lawson in 1958 and together they had five children. They later divorced. She spent nearly 30 years with her companion, Marvin R. Sellers. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Shirley had a life-long passion for Bingo. If there was a Bingo game going on, including every night of the week, that's where you would find her. She loved thrifting as well. She didn't pass up anything she thought was a great deal. She was an avid doll collector and had multiple rooms in her home dedicated to displaying them.

Shirley worked full-time until she was 80. For 30 years she was the office manager for three surgeons. She then worked for an attorney's office where she was known as "criminal Shirley." She also sold Avon for nearly 60 years.

Shirley is survived by; her five children, Linda R. Mitchell (Bill Allensworth), John "Hank" Lawson, Jr., Lori L. Davis (Tim), Leslie L. Hallgren (Jeff) all of Topeka and Lance L. Lawson, Weaubleau, MO; her sisters, Mildred Gibson, Lyndon, and Alfreda Myers, Anthony; her eight grandchildren, Amanda Mitchell, Lucas Mitchell (Randa), Jessica Woodward (Bryan), Dallas Hallgren, Dillon Davis, Kelsey Davis, Candace Martralli and Lindsey Willis (Taylor), and her 4 great-grandchildren, Bo Woodward, Harlow Woodward, Lillian Martralli and Cecillia Willis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Vivian Lawson.

Private family memorial services were held. Inurnment was in the Lyndon Cemetery.
