Carbondale - Sandra Sue (Haas) Coffee, 82, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. She was born April 17, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Claude and Sarah (Raby) Haas.

Sue's family moved to Carbondale in 1947. She had lived most of her life there and graduated from Carbondale High School in 1960.

After graduation, Sue moved to Washington D.C. and worked for the FBI for three years. She returned to Carbondale in 1964 and became the office manager of Carbondale Grade School where she worked for 33 years, until her retirement in 2006.

On June 11, 1961, Sue was united in marriage to Vernon Tilman Coffee in Carbondale, KS. To this union three sons were born, Todd, Patrick and Scott.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her son, Todd; her parents, Claude and Sarah Haas; her sister, Pat Kemble; and by a granddaughter, Samantha Coffee.

Sue is survived by her two sons, Patrick (Sandy) Coffee of Southlake, Texas, Scott (Susan) Coffee of DeSoto, Kansas; and by her four grandchildren, Zachariah, Danae, Daric and Tara.

Funeral services for Sue will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 4th at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, 430 Commercial St., Carbondale, KS 66414. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the start of service time. Sue will be laid to rest at the Carbondale Cemetery where she will join her husband exactly 2 years to the day of his burial date.
