Melvern - Ruth Ann Silver, 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas. She was born on July 7, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of August and Ruth (Cook) Meier.

Ruth grew up in Kansas City, had lived in Colombia and Brazil as a Missionary and then lived in Florida before moving to Lyndon. After 11 years in Lyndon she moved to rural Melvern, where she has lived for the last 33 years.

Ruth worked for the Marais des Cygnes Valley School and the Valley View Greenhouse, both at Melvern. She was a Homemaker most of her life, raising five ornery kids!

On June 6, 1958, Ruth was united in marriage to Ralph "Jerry" Silver in Kansas City, Missouri. To this union five children were born, Mark, Joan, Beth, Becky and Amy.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry of 67 years, on February 25, 2026; by her parents, August and Ruth; and by a granddaughter, Morgan Woodruff.

Ruth is survived by her five children, Mark (Sandy) Silver of Pulaski, Tennessee, Joan (Jonathan) Starch of Melvern, Beth (Dan) Freerksen of Topeka, Becky White of Overbrook and Amy Silver of Melvern; her sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Ruth will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 28 at the Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Melvern Cemetery.
