Waverly - Roland Alvoid Bell, Jr., 81, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at his home in Waverly, Kansas. He was born on December 2, 1942, in Pine City, Minnesota, the son of Roland and Elaine (Wanous) Bell, Sr.

Roland grew up in Minnesota and had lived in Lawrence and Emporia before moving to Waverly in 2001.

Roland had served as a Minister, worked for TRW, wiring cables and retired from Iowa Beef/Tyson in Emporia. He was a rural mail carrier as well. He was a member of the Salt Creek Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Lyndon.

Roland married Marsha Coffman, they later divorced. On March 9, 1990, Roland was united in marriage to Patricia Parnell in Lawrence.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Elaine; an infant daughter, Linda Lee; and a sister, Janie.

Roland is survived by his wife Patricia of 35 years; his four children, Tammy Johnson of Erie, Annette Shaffer of Conway, Arkansas, Lori Neilson of Garnett and Roland Michael Bell of Kentucky; his five brothers, Michael Bell, Steven Bell and Kevin Bell, all of Minnesota, Ernie Wanous and Danny Wanous, both of Oregon; his two sisters, Carol Minardi and Bonnie Gallagher, both of Oregon; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Roland will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 19 at the Salt Creek Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 9:30am until service time on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Topeka Cemetery.
