Shoshoni, Wyoming - Roderick Dennis Catlin, a man fulll of love, life and quirky sense of humor, passed away on January 6, 2024.

Rick was born on June 4, 1950, on Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, to Robert and Imogene (Green) Catlin. After graduating from school, Rick worked for the railroad before joining the United States Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War. After his service, he retired to enjoy time breeding and raising his beloved champion Arabian horses. During his many adventures and travels, he met his wife Deb, in Eugene, Oregon and settled down to the quiet life in Shoshoni, Wyoming with her and their two children, Rayna and Joshua. Rick's favorite pastimes were cooking out with family, leading hunting pack trips into the mountains and hunting with his faithful dogs, Horton, Charlie and Willow. His canine companions were dear to him. Other pets have stayed behind with Deb, but Horton, Willow and Charlie are on a long walk with him now.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dwayne Catlin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his Mother, Imogene Iva Deal of Lebo, Kansas; his sister, Debra Sue Neill of Olivet, Kansas; his paternal grandparents, Shorty and Laura Catlin of Osage City; and his maternal grandparents, Marlin and Rosa Green of Quenemo, Kansas.

Rick is survived by his wife, Deb; his son, Joshua; his daughter, Rayna, all of the home; his four grandchildren, Eden, Dalton, Destin and Daelyn; his brother, Robert D. Catlin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his half-sister, Tonja Bentz of Joplin, Missouri; his two aunts, Jerry Maxine Lloyd (Stan) of Quenemo, Kansas and Juanita Fay Williams of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; three nieces; one nephew; and many great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Rick will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Alpine Cemetery on Melvern Lake. As Rick prioritized finding joy in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same - go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you.
