Shawnee--Robert H. Smith, 75, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home in Shawnee, Kansas. He was born on July 15, 1941 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Howard and Marjorie Coats Smith.
Bob grew up in Rhode Island, and had lived in the Lyndon, Kansas community before moving to the Kansas City metro area in 1982.
Bob was a Social Studies teacher at the Lyndon High School, then worked as a utilities appraiser for the State of Kansas, and had been a member of the Lyndon Jay Cee's.. He worked as a Real Estate Appraiser in Kansas City. He was a member of Cross Points Church in Shawnee.
On June 27, 1964, Bob was married to Linda Kerr in Ottawa, Kansas, and they had been been married 52 years at the time of his death.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marjorie; his brothers, Tom and David; and by his sister, Judy.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda; his three children, David (Jackie) Smith of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Rachel (Steve) Raydo of Shawnee and Evan (Allison) Smith of St. Hippolyte du Forte, France; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial services for Bob will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, January 27 at Cross Points Church, 6824 Lackman Rd., Shawnee, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until service time on Friday.
