Robert Earl Olson II, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was 67 years old.
Robert was born May 10, 1950 to Robert and Margaret Murphy Olson. He attended De La Salle High School and graduated in 1969. Robert was an antiques dealer and opened his first store, The Wood Doctor and Old Westport Antiques in 1975. His hobbies included attending estate sales and auctions throughout the Midwest, traveling with his family to Estes Park, Colorado, and spending time at his farm near Melvern, Kansas. Faith and family were the most important things in his life. He was a man whose convictions governed his path, and throughout his life he followed these values with resolute fervor; a trait he passed along to his nine children.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Olson; and his brother, Pat Olson.
Robert is survived by his former wife, Mary Olson; his nine children, Joshua, Robert (Alison), Jacob (Diana), Sarah, Elizabeth (Ryan), Benjamin, Jonathan (Brittany), Christopher and Joseph (Rachael); his siblings, Jeanne Hough (Richard), Daniel (Boody), Michael, Steven (Bernie) and James (LaFawn); 18 grandchildren, Emilee, Elijah, Noah, Robert, Mary, Ali, Luke, Wyatt, Waylon, Lily, Amelia, Summer, Olivia, Joshua, Clark, Willow, Liam and Franklin.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, April 18 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery east of Melvern. Memorial contributions may be made to Rev. Lester Stauffacher, 2944 E. 305th St., Melvern, KS. 66510.
