Overbrook - Robert James Gloss, 92, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas. He was born on September 5, 1932, in Scranton, Kansas, the son of Clifford and Gladys (Frye) Gloss.

Bob graduated from Overbrook High School in 1950. He served in the United States Air Force from December 1952 to his honorable discharge in December 1956. He worked at DuPont in Topeka for 27 years before retiring. He worked on his farm with cattle and haying. He helped both his sons in their work after retirement. Helping Rob and Kevin with cattle and haying and hauling cattle and with Kevin in his mowing business.

On September 29, 1963, Bob was united in marriage to Doris Lyon at the Worden Methodist Church at Worden, KS. They shared fifty-nine years of a loving marriage until Doris passed away September 5, 2022.

Bob was a member of the Grace Community Church in Overbrook, a member of the Gideon's International and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post at Overbrook.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents, Clifford and Gladys; and by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Madeline Gloss.

Bob is survived by his two sons, Rob Gloss and wife Debbie of Carbondale and Kevin Gloss and wife Sheri of Overbrook; his brother-in-law, Duane Lyon and his wife Susie of Baldwin City; his eight grandchildren, Derick Waetzig and his wife Rikki, Eli Gloss and his wifeEmily, Dallas Gloss and his wife Mikayla, Hannah Powell and her husband Josiah, Weston Gloss and his wife Julia, Jose Paredes and his wife Mii, Victor Ramirez and Joseph Ramirez; fourteen great-grandchildren, Daisy, Carter, Wyatt, Chloe, Emma, Anna, Boaz, Blakely, Hallie, Clay, Jaxon, Walker, Kian and Colter.

Memorial services for Bob will be at 10:30am on Saturday, August 9, at the Grace Community Church in Overbrook. Inurnment will be in the Overbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30am until service time at the church.
