Lyndon--Robert Elder, 80, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home in Lyndon, Kansas. He was born on February 18, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Margaret Neuman Elder.
Bob had lived in Melvern for many years and had moved to Lyndon in the last year. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Purchasing Agent for 30 years until his retirement. He had served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Melvern American Legion Post #317 and the Vassar Zion Lutheran Church.
On July 29, 1961 Bob was married to Mary Alice Lane in Waverly.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, JoAnn Speer; his parents, William and Margaret; his brother, James Elder; and an infant sister, Joan Elder.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary of the home; his daughter, Deborah (Dwight) Becker; two nieces, Deborah (Tim) Stenzel and Karen (Mike) Waddell; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, May 28 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Inurnment will be in the Melvern Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to True Grace Community Church, American Legion Post #317, Midland Hospice Care or Zion Lutheran Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
