OVERBROOK

Obituary

Overbrook - Robert Eskel Bostrom, 71, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2022, at his home. He is survived by his wife Kit A. (Womacks) Bostrom. Bob was born on August 17, 1950, as an only child of Clarence J. and Gertrude A. (Jones) Bostrom. Bob grew up in Melvern, Kansas and graduated from Melvern High School. He attended Baker University, the University of Kansas and later Washburn University to further his education. After completing his degree at the University of Kansas he taught at Royal Valley High School and married Kit A. (Womacks) on October 4, 1975. They lived in Topeka for several years and then relocated to Michigan Valley, Kansas.
After teaching for six years Bob went to work for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for twenty-five years and served as an Adjunct Instructor at Washburn University and Allen County Community College. In 2006 Bob and Kit moved to Overbrook, Kansas and Bob retired from the State of Kansas to serve as a Technical Consultant for the Association of Public Health Laboratories. This work sent him to many countries in Africa for the next ten years. He loved to travel and see the world, so this was a great experience for him.
He and his wife Kit raised and showed dogs for thirty plus years and were active in several all-breed kennel clubs and national breed clubs. In addition, Bob served as a licensed dog judge taking him both locally and internationally to many shows. Bob also enjoyed being involved in several community organizations both in Michigan Valley and Overbrook.  As a member of Grace Community Church, he loved serving the Lord and sharing his musical talents both singing and playing the piano and organ.
Bob will be cremated, and private inurnment will be in Scranton Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 30 at Grace Community Church in Overbrook with visitation at 10:00am preceding the celebration. In lieu of flowers, Bob would prefer
memorial contributions be made in the way of Gideon Bibles to help share God's Word around the
world.
