Lyndon - Richard Graybill Wagner, 78, went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at his home near Lyndon, Kansas, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 21, 1945, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the fifth and last son of Edgar Kreider and Fannie (Graybill) Wagner.
Richard graduated from Hershey High School in 1963. He graduated from McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas and then from the University of Kansas at Lawrence with his Master's Degree. He worked for the State of Kansas in the Department of Social Services, Department of Aging until his retirement.
On February 4, 1966, Richard was united in marriage to Janice Stansel in McPherson. To this union two children were born, Rayna and David.
Richard was raised in a Christian home where he committed his life to Jesus Christ as a teenager and his faith guided him throughout his life. He and Jan attended church at Grace Community Church in Overbrook and Mt. Pleasant Community Church near Lyndon.
Richard grew up on a dairy farm and he had worked as a herdsman for the Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. His enjoyment of cattle lasted his whole life. He enjoyed farming, gardening and generally working outdoors. This led to deer, bird and squirrel watching from his back deck. He and Jan spent time attending all of their grandchildren's activities and sporting events. They also enjoyed many trips to see family in Pennsylvania and Colorado.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Fannie; and by two brothers, Franklin Wagner and James Wagner.
Richard is survived by his wife Janice of 58 years; his two children, Rayna (Jarred) Creach of Pomona and David (Melissa) Wagner of Lebo; his four grandchildren, Jayden Creach of Lawrence, Collin Creach of Wichita, Kaitlin Wagner and Benjamin Wagner, both of Lebo; and his two brothers, Edgar Wagner of Palmyra, Pennsylvania and David (Avis) Wagner of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Funeral services for Richard will be held at 10:30am on Friday, February 16 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 9:30am until service time.
