Lyndon - Richard Duane Basinger, Sr., 92, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Plaza West Healthcare in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on September 14, 1931, in Norwich, Kansas, the son of Edgar and Velma (Buttel) Basinger.

Richard graduated from Meade High School in 1949. As he traveled for his job, he lived in many locations through the years, and had lived near Lyndon for the last 20 years.

Richard worked as a salesman for Allstate Insurance and also for Sears for over 35 years. He was a 49 year member of the Masonic Lodge and attended in Lawrence and Lyndon. Through the years he had been Santa Claus to those that needed him.

On December 24, 1949, Richard was united in marriage to Lucretia "Corky" Hinsdale in Meade, Kansas. To this union, three children were born.

Richard was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents, Edgar and Velma; and by all of his siblings.

Richard is survived by his wife Corky of over 74 years; his three children, Richard Basinger, Jr. of Lyndon, Lucretia Sue Farland of Fairfield, California and James Basinger, of Joplin, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Richard will be at 1:30pm on Monday, April 22 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until service time on Monday.
