Wakarusa - Rawlin Dickie (Dick) Ashwill, 80, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at his home near Wakarusa, Kansas. He was born on December 11, 1942, in Long Beach, California, the son of Lewis and Mildred (Kersten) Ashwill.

Dick had lived most of his life in several towns around Osage County.

Dick received a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Finance from Washburn University. He had served as the Vice-President of the State Bank of Carbondale until his retirement. He was a strong supporter of Washburn University. Dick loved his family, golfing and watching his grandson play sports, especially Blue Thunder football. He was also proud of his oldest grandson becoming a police detective.

On May 26, 1967, Dick was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Carol Waetzig in Carbondale. To this union a daughter was born, Brooke.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mildred; his nephew, Darren Clock; and a niece, Katee Jo Barreras.

Dick is survived by his wife Carol of 56 years; his daughter, Brooke Ashwill-Stevens (Mike) of Wakarusa; his brother, Johnny (Ronda) Ashwill of Carbondale; his sister, Trudy (Wilson) Surber of Kansas City, Missouri; his two grandsons, Hunter and Philip (Betsy); and his two great-granddaughters, Elliott and Parker.

Cremation is planned and the family and friends will gather to remember Dick on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:30pm at the Carbondale Community ELM Building, 228 Main Street, Carbondale, KS 66414. Please dress casual - KU, Washburn, or golf apparel welcome. Cookies and drinks provided.
