Lawrence--Peggy Ann Schreiber, 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 23, 1941 in Osage City, Kansas, the daughter of William and Neva Karnes Mathieu.
Peggy grew up in Osage City, had lived in Hoyt before moving to Lyndon in 1982 and lived there until 2012 when she moved to Lawrence.
Peggy graduated from Osage City High School in 1959. She had worked for the State of Kansas on the Board of EMS for 26 years until her retirement in 2003. She had been a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar.
On November 27, 1960, Peggy was married to Ben Schreiber in Vassar. To this union three children were born.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Ben on June 23, 2011; her parents, William and Neva; an infant brother, Larry Mathieu and brother, Billy Mathieu.
Peggy is survived by her son, Steve (Laura) Schreiber of Mayetta; her two daughters, Julie (Bryan) Wyatt of Lawrence and Wendi (Rene') Schreiber of Alaska; her brother, Garry Mathieu of Greenwood, AR; her two sisters, Cheri Willis of Midwest City, OK. and Betty Burns of Okarche, OK; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Peggy will be at 10:00am on Monday, September 18 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00pm on Sunday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon.
