Obituary

Paul Robert Davis, 92, Overbrook, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the Brookside Retirement Facility, Overbrook.

A family visitation will be held at 10:00am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Grace Community Church in Overbrook. Interment is set for Mt. Olivet Cemetery near Williamsburg at 2:30pm.

Paul, along with his twin sister, Pauline were born on January 4, 1923 at home southeast of Williamsburg, KS. He was the son of John Samuel and Mable (McDowell) Davis.

Paul attended a one room country school, "Bloody 96", and later graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1942. He then attended one year of college at Ottawa University.

After college, Paul worked on the family farm at Williamsburg and was employed by the National Sign Company of Ottawa.

Paul was united in marriage to Pauline Rhoades on August 18, 1946 at Mt. Olivet Church, Williamsburg, KS. She survives of the home after 69 years of marriage.

Paul and his wife Pauline lived for a short time at Wellsville and Williamsburg where they farmed. In the 60's they moved with their four children southeast of Overbrook where they had a large dairy and farmed. The family moved in 1967 to Muskogee, Oklahoma onto the Bacone College campus where Paul and Pauline were employed by the Murrow Indian Children's Home as foster parents. Paul drove a bus for the Bacone College singing choir as they toured the United States. He was the Head of Maintenance at Bacone College and later at The First Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK. Paul also worked in construction many different times in his life. In the 70's Paul and Pauline moved back to the "Home Place" at Williamsburg where they raised livestock and farmed. They returned to Overbrook in 1987 where he retired. He was a member of the Grace Community Church of Overbrook.

Survivors include their four children, Janet Donnelly and husband Dennis, Roger Davis and wife Kim all of Overbrook, KS., Harold Davis and wife Karon of Basehor, KS. and Paula Smith and husband Doug of Williamsburg, KS.; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his twin sister, Pauline Geiss of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Warren, Max and Kenneth Davis; three sisters, Erma Davis, Betty Swenson and Helen Shofner and one foster son, Malvin Dorsey.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions are not necessary but may be made to Gideon's International, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS. 66451.
