Obituary

Osage City - Nels LaRue Peterson, 82, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at his home east of Osage City, Kansas. He was born on August 26, 1939, in Osage City, Kansas, the son of Nels Arthur and Wilhelmina (Shively) Peterson.
LaRue grew up in Osage City and graduated from Osage City High School in 1958. He had lived east of Osage for the last 20 years.
LaRue was the owner of Peterson Nursing Home for 22 years and the owner of Peterson Assisted Living for 6 years. He had always farmed throughout this time as well. He had served in the United States Army Reserves, was a member of the Osage City Jaycees and the Osage City United Methodist Church.
On February 13, 1960, LaRue was united in marriage to Iris Marie ​ Jones​ . To this union two children were born, Crystal and Steven.
LaRue was preceded in death by his wife Iris in 1996; by his parents, Nels and Wilhelmina; and by a sister, Charlotte Michael.
LaRue is survived by his companion of 24 years, Robin Dorr; his daughter, Crystal Peterson of Osage City; his son, Steven Peterson of Osage City; his brother, Jim Peterson of Osage City; his two sisters, Linda Bowin and Archlean Frye, both of Osage City; his nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private family services for LaRue will be held. Memorial contributions in memory of LaRue may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
