Obituary

Topeka-Nadine A. Hammond, 87, passed away on Saturday January 24, 2015 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born October 20, 1927 at the Barnes Hospital in Osage City, the daughter of Carl Swen and Aline Louise Vialle Bergquist.
Nadine graduated from Osage City High School in 1944. She worked at JCPenney and the Kansas State Highway Dept., both in Topeka, and retired from Hallmark Cards in Osage City.
Nadine was married to John F. Hammond on January 25, 1947.
She is survived by her three children, Linda (Mike) Heim of Lawrence; John W. (Maria) Hammond of Spain; Richard (Neva) Hammond of Topeka; her sister, Kathie (Mike) Whalen of Osage City; a sister-in-law and husband Geraldine and Bill Gaston, her caregivers the last few years; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Loren and William Bergquist and one sister, Patricia Bergquist.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Saturday, January 31, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Osage City. Visitation will start at 10:00a.m. with a Rosary to follow until service time .Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home 818 Topeka Ave. Lyndon, Ks. 66451.
