Carbondale--Mildred Greene, 84, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas. She was born on March 17, 1932 in Lyndon, Kansas, the daughter of Warren and Marilyn Cody Roberts.
Mildred grew up between Lyndon and Osage City and had lived in Osage City for several years. She had lived in Carbondale for the last 53 years.
Mildred was a Homemaker and was an Owner and Operator of Greene Sanitation. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, was a bingo fanatic, auction queen and outstanding Mom.
On January 28, 1950 Mildred was married to Kenneth Greene in Lyndon.
Mildred was preceded in death by a grandson, Randall Lee "Cracker" Greene II; by her parents, Warren and Marilyn; by two brothers, Joe Roberts and Jack Roberts; and by four sisters, Olive Moore, Dale Visnosky, Goldie Lynn and Shirley Watts.
Mildred is survived by her six children, Rhonda (Donald) Thompson of Carbondale, Michael (Sherry) Greene of Topeka, Becky (Joe) Heinz of Carbondale, Randall (Gayla) Greene of Topeka, Joe (Joyce) Greene of Carbondale and Tim (Beth) Greene of Carbondale; her four brothers, "Moody" Roberts, Kenneth Roberts, Bob Roberts and Bill Roberts; her two sisters, Jean Ellis and Peggy Lira; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mildred will be at 11:00am on Monday, November 21 at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time at the church.
