Lyndon - Matthew Scott Sweetman, 54, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at his home in Lyndon, Kansas. He was born on February 21, 1968, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Arlo and Carol (Calhoun) Sweetman, Sr.

Matthew had grown up in Cordova, Illinois, had lived in Topeka for 6 years and in Lyndon for the last 2 years.

Matthew worked as a welder and in assembly for Ernest-Spencer Metals Inc. in Topeka.

On April 4, 2008, Matthew was married to Gladys Annette Ditto in Rock Island, Illinois.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Arlo and Carol; and by one brother, Paul Sweetman.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Gladys of the home; his two sons, Chase (Shelby) Sweetman of Kewanee, Illinois, and Eian Merino of Midvale, Utah; his daughter, Taylor Sweetman of Kewanee, Illinois; his two stepsons, Jeremias Griesacker of Topeka and Joseph Griesacker of Lyndon; his four stepdaughters, Marianna Griesacker of Wilton, Iowa, Bridget Griesacker of Osage City, Veronica Nelson of Topeka and Rita Griesacker of Topeka; his two brothers, Arlo Sweetman, Jr. and Mark Sweetman, both of Georgia; his two sisters, Penny Calhoun and Melissa Lewis, both of Illinois; and fourteen grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Thursday, January 12, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Matthew will be cremated following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
