Topeka - Mary Ann Stephenson, 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on October 3, 1944, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Alice (Balocca) Didier.

Mary Ann grew up in Osage City, graduating from Osage City High School in 1962. Following this, she graduated from nursing school in Topeka, Kansas. She then lived in Emporia, Kansas. Mary Ann was a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Emporia.

On December 28, 1965, Mary Ann was united in marriage to L J Stephenson in Newkirk, Oklahoma. To this union a daughter was born, Lani.

Mary Ann spent many years taking care of their young daughter at their home in Topeka before starting her career in education. She worked at the Highland Park High School Library in Topeka until her retirement.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Alice; and by her sister, Dolores Croucher.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, L J of nearly 58 years; and her daughter, Lani Stephenson of Maple Grove, Minnesota; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mary Ann will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 27, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time. Burial will be in the Osage City Cemetery.
