Melvern - Marlin Keith Orear, 70, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on June 17, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, the oldest son of Joyce Nadine (Haynes) Orear & Keith Deloit Orear.

Marlin had lived and attended school in Topeka until 3rd Grade and then later the family made their home in Melvern, Kansas. Marlin graduated from Melvern High School in 1973.

Marlin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Christine Renee Rice on September 7, 1973 at the Church of God in Melvern, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Jerrad, Don and Amy.

Marlin was the Melvern town Marshal for 16 years and retired from Ottawa Coop/Melvern branch after 25 years. After retirement, Marlin and Christine were the groundskeepers for the Melvern & Sutton Cemeteries. Marlin was an avid MOPAR fan, he loved anything that had to do with automobiles, horses, and guns. Marlin could talk to cars and trucks to anyone! You could always find Marlin supporting his children, family, grandchildren by attending sporting and school related activities. He absolutely cherished his time with his family and was known to always be seen with his love, Christine hand in hand.

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Keith; and by one brother, Kevin Orear.

Marlin is survived by his wife Christine of 52 years; his three children, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Jerrad (Dia) Orear of Williamsburg: Christian, Chase (Dakotah), Conner, Corban, & Camden, Don (Sheri) Orear of Iola: Gage (Tilar) Cleaver: Wells, McKayli (Levi) Isch: Theodore, McKenna (Zack) Orear, and Amy (Matt) Lacey Melvern, Ks: Olivia and Ava; his two brothers, Rusty Orear of Melvern and Chris Orear of Melvern; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Marlin will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 2 at the Mt. Pleasant Community Church, southeast of Lyndon. Burial will be in the Melvern Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Monday at Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon.
