Topeka--Marla Kay Tucker-Lavin, 58, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at her home in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on September 8, 1962 in Lyndon, Kansas, the daughter of Marlin and Irene (Ogle) Tucker.
Marla grew up in Lyndon, where she graduated from Lyndon High School in 1980. She had lived in Topeka for the last 25 years.
Marla received a Bachelor's Degree from Baylor University in 1984, and she was the Director of Human Resources for the Kansas Department of Public Health and Environment. She was a member of the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church. Marla always enjoyed her Yorkies and her family.
On October 16, 1993, Marla was united in marriage to Fred Lavin in Lyndon, Kansas. To this union, a daughter was born, Kelsey Sarah Lavin.
Marla was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Irene.
Marla is survived by her husband, Fred, of the home; her daughter, Kelsey Lavin of Topeka; her brother, Douglas Tucker and wife Cheryl of Topeka; her nephew, Taran Tucker; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services for Marla will be at 11:00am on Saturday, May 1 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the chapel. Inurnment will be in the Vassar Cemetery at a later date.
