Lyndon – Marian Mussatto Burns, 95, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at her home southwest of Lyndon. She was born on April 18, 1931, in Burlingame, Kansas, the daughter of Victor and Janet (Hotchkiss) Mussatto.

Marian grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1949. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Kansas in 1954. She has lived near Lyndon since 1955.

Marian had been an attorney, establishing Burns and Burns P. A., later Burns, Burns, Walsh and Walsh P. A. in Lyndon for 70 years. She was the first female county attorney in the State of Kansas, also being the youngest at the age of 23. Marian had been a Lyndon School Board Member, President of the Lyndon Pride, Osage County Economic Development , 4-H Leader and scout leader for her kids. She competed in the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit and traveled the country barrel racing in the Senior Pro Rodeo Association until the age of 80. She was a force to be reckoned with!

On June 1, 1951, Marian was united in marriage to Clyde Burns on the K.U. Campus at the Danforth Chapel. To this union two children were born, Janet and Richard.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Janet; and by her brother, Raymond Mussatto.

Marian is survived by her husband, Clyde of 75 years; her two children, Janet (Pat) Walsh of Lyndon and Richard (Carmen) Burns of Lyndon; by her six grandchildren, Alex (Vicky) Walsh, Nick (Ashlyn) Walsh, Joe (Madison) Walsh, Mason (Lisa) Burns, Sydney Walsh and Rylan Burns; by her five great-grandchildren, Waylyn, Clyde, Wyatt, Judah and Charley.

Funeral services for Marian will be at 2:00pm on Friday, September 18 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends after the service until 3:30pm. Private family burial will follow at the Lyndon Cemetery. Western attire is encouraged by the family.
