Lyndon--Mardell Vanderslice, 100, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Plaza West care facility in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on August 27, 1916 in Lyndon, the daughter of Wilbur and Edith Smith Goldsmith.
Mardell had lived all of her life in Osage County. She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1934. She had owned and operated the Corner Café and the Lyndon Café through the years. She had been President of the Republican Women's Group and was a former member of the Lyndon Presbyterian Church.
On December 10, 1935 Mardell was married to Alfred Vanderslice in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Mardell was preceded in death by her husband Alfred on October 21, 2001; by her daughter, Vivian Lawson; by her grandson, Rusty Lawson; by her parents, Wilbur and Edith; and by her brother and two sisters.
Mardell is survived by her three daughters, Shirley Lawson of Topeka, Mildred Gibson of Lyndon and Alfreda Myers of Anthony; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mardell will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 29 at the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Saturday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon.
