MELVERN – Marcelene "Marcie" Mastell, 82, of Melvern, Kansas passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Plaza West Nursing Home in Topeka, Kansas.

Marcie was the fifth of eight children.  She was born April 2, 1938 in Victoria, Texas the daughter of Samuel G. and Mamie Nell (Bonner) Palmer. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1957. She received an associate's degree from Houston Vocational Technical College.

On June 15, 1965, Marcelene was united in marriage to Robert Marshall Mastell in Smyrna, Tennessee.  It was then she began her life as a military wife.  They shared over fifty-five years of marriage. To this union they shared two daughters, Norma Jean and Sue Ann.

Marcie was employed for seventeen years at Jostens Printing Company in Topeka where she worked in the layout department. She retired in 2012.  Marcie was City Clerk of Melvern, Kansas for many years.

Marcie loved being a Girl Scout leader for her daughter's troops.  Marcie had a passion and unique artistic ability in making a variety of crafts. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially attending all of her children and grandchildren's school sporting events.  She never missed her daughter's games and everyone in the gymnasium could hear her yelling for them to "shoot" throughout the entire game. Marcie's warm spirit and smile will be dearly missed and she will remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Fay Charlene Hudnall and June Palmer; three brothers, Marshall Palmer, Novie Palmer and Troy Palmer.

Marcie is survived by her husband Robert of the home; two daughters, Norma Jean Schaefer (Jim Lickteig) of Richmond, Kansas and Sue Ann Mastell-Meidinger (Gary) of Topeka, Kansas; two sisters, Normadene Smith of Trinity, Texas and Kay Darlene Wilson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Tarya, Cody, DJ, Robert, Jared and Amber; and one great grandchild, Nikko.

Memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Feltner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Feltner Funeral Home.
