Lyle Richard Janssen's Obituary
Melvern - Lyle Richard Janssen, 57, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at his home in Melvern, Kansas. He was born on November 17, 1965, in Columbus, Nebraska, the son of Richard and Ila (Hueschen) Janssen.
Lyle had lived in Nebraska before moving with his family to rural Lyndon and then had lived in Melvern for more than 30 years.
Lyle graduated from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School in 1984. He was a member of the football team and was active in FFA and 4-H. He had worked for Brecheisen Fencing, Jack White Fencing, and Rex Arb but mostly enjoyed driving his blade and maintaining roads for Melvern and Valleybrook Township for many years.
On September 2, 1989, Lyle was united in marriage to Shelly Reece in Lyndon. To this union two children were born, Lukis and Brookelyn.
Lyle was preceded in death by his dad, Richard Janssen on March 15, 2009.
Lyle is survived by his wife Shelly of 33 years; his son, Lukis (Samantha) Janssen of Melvern; his daughter, Brookelyn Janssen of Lyndon; his mother, Ila of Vassar; his two sisters, Kayleen Manrose of Wakarusa and Jay (David) Lee of Vassar; his granddaughter, Lyla Janssen. Lyle had a strong bond with his dog, T.J., but he had a stronger dislike for cats.
Memorial services for Lyle will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, February 11, at the Marais des Cygnes Valley High School Gym. Inurnment will be in the Melvern Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions for Lyle be made to the Lyle Janssen Memorial Fund, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home,
