Melvern - Lori Lynn Privat, 62, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at her home in Melvern, Kansas. She was born on April 29, 1961, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Dean and Vona (Rea) Rice.

Lori had lived all of her life in the Melvern community. She graduated in 1979 as the first class of Marais des Cygnes Valley High School.

Lori had been a Homemaker all of her life, and had operated a Daycare for many years and then worked as a Preschool Teacher for 14 years.

Lori was married to Terry Burkdoll on August 18, 1979. To this union two sons were born, Larry and Chris. They later divorced. On December 29, 2005, Lori married Laryl Privat in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Vona; and by an infant brother, Johnnie Dean Rice.

Lori is survived by her husband Laryl of the home; her two sons, Larry (Nicole) Burkdoll of Ottawa and Chris (Madeline) Burkdoll of Waverly; her two sisters, Linda (John) Fellers of Melvern and Jeannie (Brad) Brownlee of Wichita; seven grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Barbara Privat of Burlington; her brother-in-law, Rusty Privat of Melvern and her former daughter-in-law, Kacie (Taylor) Everhart.

Memorial services for Lori will be at 11:00am on Friday, October 27 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Melvern Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial contributions be made to the Melvern Community Center, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
