Vassar--Leonard Elmore, 83, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on July 5, 1935 in Arkansas City, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Gladys Leonard Elmore.
Leonard grew up in Wellington and had lived in Topeka before moving to Osage County in 1970. He had lived near Vassar for several years.
Leonard worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a Draftsman and then Head Car Inspector. He enjoyed restoring cars and tractors, playing in a band and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Vassar.
Leonard was married to Virginia Ramsey on December 13, 2003 in Vassar.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mark Elmore; and two sisters, Marilene Moore and Maggie Buntaine.
Leonard is survived by his wife Virginia of the home; his son, Mittchell Elmore of Topeka; his daughter, Linda Griffin of Topeka; his two step sons, James Watts and Stephen Watts, both of Chicago, Illinois; his sister, Naomi Lammy of Parsons; one grandchild; four step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Leonard will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 18 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
