Obituary

Vassar - Lee Milner Bulmer, 86, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Osage Nursing Center in Osage City, Kansas. He was born on June 11, 1938, in Michigan Valley, Kansas, the son of Drexel and Alice (Myers) Bulmer.

Lee had grown up in the Michigan Valley area and had lived there until moving south of Vassar in 2006. He graduated from Michigan Valley High School in 1956.

Lee had owned and operated with his brother and father, Bulmer Grain Company in Michigan Valley for many years. He was the Fuel Department Manager at BETO Junction for 7 years and worked at Ottawa Truck in assembly for 9 years. Throughout this time, he always farmed and raised livestock. He was a member of the Michigan Valley United Methodist Church and the American Maine-Anjou Cattle Association.

On December 14, 1958, Lee was united in marriage to Peggy Porter in Ottawa, Kansas. To this union four children were born, Renea, Tammy, Dana and Delane.

Lee was preceded in death by his son, Delane in 2001; by a grandson, Dallas Bulmer; by his parents, Drexel and Alice; and by his sister, Barbara Brown.

Lee is survived by his wife, Peggy, of over 65 years; his son, Dana (Dana) Bulmer of Topeka; his two daughters, Renea (Jean) Bulmer of Topeka and Tammy (Rodney) Phillips of Vassar; his two brothers, Larry Bulmer and Russell Bulmer, both of Ottawa; his three sisters, Deanna Faust of Overbrook, Sharon Middlebusher and Karen Witham, both of Ottawa; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Lee will be at 10:30am on Saturday, August 17 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the ValleyBrook Cemetery, south of Overbrook. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Lee may be made to Michigan Valley United Methodist Church or Osage Nursing Center, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
