LYNDON
Lyndon - LaVera Jane Stephens, 85, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on February 25, 1940, in Odessa, Missouri, the daughter of James and Lillie (Ward) Williams.
LaVera grew up in Odessa and had lived in Osage City before moving to Lyndon in 1986.
LaVera was a Homemaker, she sold Tupperware and worked for Osage Products for 10 years.
In Lyndon she was the owner of the A&L Cafe, where she cooked, waitressed, cleaned and did anything needed.
On February 18, 1960, LaVera was united in marriage to Arthur "Art" Stephens in Lyndon.
LaVera was preceded in death by her husband, Art on February 20, 2023; by her parents, James and Lillie and several siblings.
LaVera is survived by her two sons, Charles "Chuck" Mayfield of Osage City and Arthur John Stephens, Jr and wife Tabitha of Deland, Florida; by her two daughters, Connie Hensley and husband Todd of Reading and Darlene Potter and husband Gary of Osage City; her two sisters, Wanda Langley of Carbondale and Clara Wakeman of Odessa, Missouri; her seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Cremation will take place and private family services will be held at a later date. LaVera and Art will be inurned in the Osage City Cemetery. Online condolences for the family may be left at feltnerfuneralhome.com.
