Melvern - Larry Ray Yockey, 74, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on August 21, 1947 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles and Frances (Groff) Yockey.
Larry had grown up in Cambridge, Kansas and moved to the Melvern area when he was a junior in high school. He graduated from Melvern High School in 1965.
Larry worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a Motor Car Operator and then worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for I.B.P., Ohse Meats, LaSiesta and Tyson Foods. Larry served as Treasurer for 8 years on the Agency Township, had been very active with his kids in 4-H and was a member of the True Grace Community Church at Melvern.
On May 13, 1967, Larry was united in marriage to Nancy Patterson in Melvern, Kansas. To this union four children were born.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances.
Larry is survived by his wife Nancy of 54 years; his four children, Brian (Corinne) Yockey of Lyndon, Julie (George) Stutzman of Lyndon, Jennifer (Shannon) Bingham of Osage City and Kimberly (Brian) DeCavele of Melvern; his brother, Garry (Rose Mary) Yockey of Moore, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Larry will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 16 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, east of Melvern.
