Ottawa - Larry Duane Bulmer was born on January 14, 1940, in Michigan Valley, Kansas, the son of Drexel and Alice Faye (Myers) Bulmer. He departed this life on Thursday, August 22, 2024, surrounded by family in his home in Ottawa, Kansas at the age of 84.

Larry had grown up in the Michigan Valley area until he joined the Air Force in 1958. He served until 1962 as an Airman 2nd Class. He had lived in Ottawa for over 60 years.

On July 17, 1960, Larry married the love of his life, Lois Ann Lewis of Quenemo. Together they raised four beautiful children, Jody Lee, Jimmie Duane, Jerry Wayne and Alice Marie.

Larry worked at Robertson Ford, Dickerson Construction and then owned his own construction and drywall business. He also drove a truck for Commodore Homes, Our Own Hardware and for Sunflower Sue in Ottawa. Larry was a Cub Scout Leader in Ottawa for Troop #81. He loved working in his garage and working with Lois in their beautiful flower, vegetable and water gardens.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Drexel and Alice Faye; by his sister, Barbara Brown; by his brother, Lee Bulmer; and by one great-grandchild, Remington Bulmer.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lois, of 64 years; his three sons, Jody Bulmer and Jimmie (Dawn) Bulmer, all of Ottawa and Jerry (Janet) Bulmer of Auburn, Nebraska; his daughter, Alice (John) Jones of Ottawa; his brother, Russell Bulmer of Ottawa; his three sisters, DeAnna Faust of Overbrook, Sharon Middlebusher and Karen Witham, both of Ottawa; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Larry will be held at 10:30a.m. on Monday, August 26, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, east of Melvern, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Sunday at the funeral chapel.
