WICHITA – Kathryn Elaine (Rose) Wischropp, 82, of Wichita, KS passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Park West Plaza Retirement Community in Wichita, KS. Kathryn was born July 30, 1938 the daughter of Orville and Willene (Wiggins) Rose on a farm near Quenemo, KS.

Kathryn spent her early life in the Lyndon and Vassar communities. She graduated from Vassar Grade School, Lyndon High School, Butler County Community College, and Kansas State University. She was in the second nursing class to graduate from Butler and worked at hospitals in El Dorado and Manhattan, KS.

On September 1, 1957, Kathryn was united in marriage to Ted Wischropp at the United Methodist Church in Vassar, KS. They shared over sixty-three years of marriage. To this union were born two children, Scott and Sherrill.

Kathryn was always ready for new adventures. She and Ted spent seventeen winters in the Rio Grande Valley as "Winter Texans". They also spent several Christmas seasons in Branson, MO working as motor coach greeters. In south Texas she enjoyed golfing, dancing and trips to Mexico where she participated in dining, dancing and drinking. The couple moved to Oklahoma where Kathryn was able to assist her son-in-law and daughter on their ranch where she got to interact in the lives of her two granddaughters. Kathryn was an excellent cook and seamstress. Most of all, Kathryn was a caring and devoted nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Don and Larry Rose; two sisters, Jolinda Rose and Pat Burkdoll.

Kathryn is survived by her husband Ted of Wichita, KS; son, Scott Wischropp of El Dorado, KS; daughter, Sherrill (Kim) Harsh of El Dorado, KS; two granddaughters, Kendall Harsh of Lawton, OK and Kennedy Harsh of El Dorado; two sisters, Helen Nordling of Erlanger, KY and Lou Ann Brinkley of Ottawa, KS.

Memorial services for Kathryn will be at 1:00pm on Friday, June 4 at the Vassar United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service until 2:00pm. They will then process to the Mt. Zion Cemetery, north of Vassar, KS. for committal service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the nursing school at Butler County Community College and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451. The family wants to thank the staff at the Park West Plaza Manor for the care and kindness shown to Kathryn and to the Phoenix Hospice members for their support they gave Kathryn and her family.
