VASSAR

Obituary

Vassar - Kathryn Anne Meek was called home on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at her 24-year residence in Vassar, Kansas. She was born to Naomi Ruth Goins and William Ashburn on Monday, October 16, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kathryn was married a second time to Bosun's Mate, Charles M. Meek on August 29, 1971. They lived in Waukegan, Illinois, Pensacola, Florida, Kansas City, Missouri, California and then made a cross country move from California to Vassar, Kansas in 2002.

Kathryn was preceded in death by Chuck on February 25, 2008; by their beloved son, Charles M. Meek, Jr on February 2, 1991; by her mother and stepfather, Naomi R. and Holly Larabee; by her father, William Ashburn in the 1980's; by her two brothers, Jerry and Mike Ashburn; and by her nephew, Anthony Williams.

Kathryn is survived by her two daughters, Sandra (Chris) Dail of Topeka and Cynthia (Bill) Rounds of Vassar. Granny, as she was known, is survived by her six grandchildren, Joshua (Brittany) Dail, Brandon (Alexis) Dail, Tristen (Freddie) Rounds, Kathryn (Rory) Rounds, Nicholas (Diamond) Dail and Andrew Rounds; and by four blessed great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Kayden, Karsyn and Bryson; by her sister, Vickie (Don) Strack of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; her nieces, Jennifer Williams and Angie (Tim) Ashburn-Proctor; by four great nieces, Anna, Brittney, Kendra and Ariel; and by her great nephew, Chase.

Kathryn was a wonderful Mom, Sister, Aunt and Granny. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, reading, family, traveling to Hawaii, swimming in her Cali pool and let's not forget her watching crime TV on high volume. Her greatest love was her time with family at her home in Vassar. An abundance of food, laughter, and lots of ornery shenanigans was a perfect day for her.

We Love You Momma, until we see you again.
