Melvern - Kathleen Lavon Miller, 70, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born on October 4, 1951, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Myron and Wanda (Rice) Miller.
Kathy grew up in Melvern, had lived southeast of Lyndon for a time and had been in Melvern for the last 10 years.
Kathy graduated from Melvern Rural High School and then Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State). She worked as a Tax Specialist, for several companies that eventually became Westar Energy, from 1973 until her retirement in 2011. Kathy was a strong, independent woman who loved the country and her horses.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Wanda.
Kathy is survived by her two brothers, Richard Miller (Nancy) of Melvern and Martin Miller (Sara) of Columbus, Nebraska; her two sisters, Deborah Miller-Steinbock of Topeka and Tammy Miller of Melvern; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside memorial services for Kathy will be at 2:30pm on Saturday, June 11 at the Melvern Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
