Obituary

Overbrook - Joyce Iwig, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Ruble Ranch Memory Care in Overbrook, Kansas. She was born on July 25, 1934, in Gillett, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Cleona (Pearce) Jones.

Joyce was born and raised in Wisconsin and then joined her husband, Paul, serving churches in various towns in Kansas.

Joyce earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from North Central Illinois, a Master's in Elementary Guidance Counseling from Kansas State Teachers College and then a Master of Divinity from Central Baptist Seminary. She was ordained in the United Methodist Church. She had a passion for helping others and prison ministries and devoted many hours at the women's prison in Topeka. Joyce volunteered at Walk to Emmaus and the Forest Park Summer Assembly. She was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church.

On August 18, 1956, Joyce was united in marriage to Paul Wesley Iwig in Gillett, Wisconsin. To this union four daughters were born, Becky, Deb, Judy and Angie.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on February 27, 2018; by her parents, John and Cleona; by all 11 of her siblings, and by two son-in-laws, Rick Hermann and Gene Koepke.

Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Becky (Jim) Galbraith of Climax Springs, Missouri, Deb Koepke of Topeka, Judy Iwig of Lyndon, and Angie (Mike) Peterson of Vassar; her eight grandchildren, Chris (Josh) Kobusczewski, Joe Landis, Caity Hermann, Jackson Hermann, Shelby (Brennan) Walker, A.J. Sellers, Sadie Sellers, and Brandon (Madison) Fanders; four step grandchildren, Gwen (Bob) Warton, Jackie Long, Laura (Jeff) Koepke Lentz, and Olivia Peterson; nineteen great-grandchildren with one more nearly here; other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services for Joyce will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 7, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Joyce may be made to Kairos of Kansas (for prison ministries) sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
