San Diego, California - Joshua Thomas Gilliland was born on March 16, 1976, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Delton and Janet (Mustard) Gilliland. He passed away on June 14, 2023, at the age of 47.

Josh grew up in Lyndon, Kansas and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1995. After a stint at KU as a proud Jayhawk, Josh moved to San Diego in 2001 where he was a bartender at Cheers and where he resided until his death. He was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, by which he continues to be adored.

Josh was preceded in death by his parents, Delton and Jan Gilliland.

Josh is survived by his two older sisters, Stephany (Pat) Hughes of Leon, Kansas and Lindy (Karl) May of Clearwater, Kansas; his five nephews, Ian Hughes, Quinn Hughes, Parker May, Colin Hughes, and Brody May; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the First Universalist Unitarian Church in Hillcrest with a reception to follow at The Merrow, 1271 University Ave., San Diego, CA.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30pm at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon on Saturday, October 28. Weather permitting, inurnment will follow at the Lyndon Cemetery.
